You don’t need to be an architect and you don't need a detailed knowledge of architecture to enjoy our group. When it’s done well, architecture can lift the spirits, and we’d like to invite you to come and share our enthusiasm for the subject.
Each month one or more of our members gives a presentation on a topic of interest to them. We encourage everyone to participate although there is no compulsion to do so.
Some of the topics we have covered recently are:
· The architecture heritage of Wetherspoons pubs
· A Hypothetical History of Architecture - the London that never was
· Shaws of Darwen - terracotta and faience in architecture
· Rock-hewn churches in Ethiopia
· Windows of the world
Please click on "Programme for 2024" below for details of this year's programme of meetings.
During the spring and summer we also hold a series of guided walks. These involve a leisurely stroll around one of the local villages, and along the way we stop and look at some of the notable buildings.
If you are interested in joining our group please let us know.
Where and when
The group meets at 2.00 pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month, and meetings are held in the Methodist Church.
