As a special correspondent his assignments included the 1982 war in Lebanon\, AIDS in Africa and the IRA Brighton bombing. \n\n\n\nHe was the first TV journalist to enter Stalinist Albania. There\, his exclusive reports on the appalling suffering of children sparked a huge international appeal involving Norman Wisdom and the Duchess of York and won him the Order of Mother Teresa\, the country’s highest civilian award.
