Family History – May 2025

This month we had a record number of speakers, 33 in total and everyone was an active participant. The idea this month was for everyone to bring in an object or photo which had some meaning in their family history. We split up into groups of about six, so everyone in the group had about five minutes to talk about their object to their group. Using a simple numbering system, we mixed the groups up and started again. We just had time to do this one more time. All in all each person had three opportunities to talk to a small group and everyone got to hear about 15 stories. The feedback was good and included information that some people found much common with these often intimate stories and people in the groups that they had not got to know before.  We will do this again in the future.

At the June meeting I will give a talk on what I discovered in doing researching for someone who had family stories about having an artist, a missionary and an old soldier amongst their ancestors. My research took me in some unexpected directions and unusual methods.

There will be no Meeting in July as all our ancestors will be on holiday 🙂
