Nearly everyone driving nowadays has experienced the magic of Sat Nav. How many know how this
technology works? By tapping into the Global Navigation Satellite System everyone can know their exact
location and how to travel from one place to another on land, sea and in the air.

Now common-place the GPS or GNSS is used in almost every industry from navigation at sea to farming
and the transmission of television & radio stations. Developed in the early 1980’s, how exactly does the
system work to such high accuracies? We hope to give a layman’s understanding of this highly
sophisticated space borne technology.
